Quinn McGowen Funeral Home
Wilmington, North Carolina
  • 1 story
  • Wood structure
  • Brick and Hardi-board siding exterior finishes

Occupancy types: Assembly (A-3) & Business

Client: Quinn McGowen Funeral Home

One of our most recent projects is the 6,600 square foot Quinn McGowen Funeral
Home which will be located just off Oleander Drive near Jungle Rapids. Our clients
are father and son, Haywood and Chris Debnam, owners of Quinn McGowen
based in Burgaw. In addition, they have a second funeral home located in Wallace.
This new facility will be located on one of the busiest streets in New Hanover
County, helping them to establish a strong presence in Wilmington.

This project had been previously designed and had acquired a building permit in
2008. The senior Mr. Debnam hired our firm to complete a re-design of the
building. We worked hard to revisit the owners' needs, reduce square footage and
to redesign the facade with appropriate proportion and scale. It has been an
extremely fun project and we have learned quite a bit about their business. Mr.
Debnam has also asked us to design a large monumental sign for a cemetery he
owns in northern Pender County, just south of Wallace.
Below are highlights of our work on current projects:
Prototype Coffee Shop
Anywhere, US
  • 1 story
  • 1,500 sf Tenant fitup

Occupancy type: Mercantile

Client: Private corporation

In an effort to win a prominent regional coffee franchiser as a client, proVision
worked on a prototype design for their stores and built a full 3D model with which to
present our ideas.  We are confident that our efforts will be rewarded as the
economy turns around and new franchise stores begin to open again.

Henderson Residence
Wilmington, NC
  • 1 story interior fitup
  • 2,400 sf

Occupancy type: Residential

Client: Greg and Bonny Henderson

This second-story condo is located
in the historic district of downtown
Wilmington.  Pre
viously, the second
floor comprise
d two 1,200 sf
condominiums.  The owners
purchased both units and
crews
demolished the demising wall to
convert
both into one 2,400 sf unit.
We w
ere granted permission by the
Historic Preservation Commission
to add a balcony overlooking Front
Stree
t (see photo above left).
However they would not permit us
to lower the existing window sill to
install a door.  We had to raise the
balcony and are in the process of
designing a movable and foldable
stair for the owners to gain access
to the balcony from the residence.
